A Noble Park kinder will have 66 new places thanks to a $350,000 upgrade.
Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams announced State Government funding for Yarraman Kindergarten and Family Children Services Centre on Wednesday 2 December.
The council’s community services director Mark Doubleday said the centre hosted two 30-place programs for four-year-olds and one 22-place three-year-old program in one playroom.
“The proposal is to renovate the current office space to accommodate a second 33-place kindergarten playroom with undercover verandah, children’s bathroom, kitchen and office administration area,” he said.
The renovations will also add three specialist consulting suites for health services, a multipurpose community room, a small play space for assessment and therapy consultation, and a waiting are for families.
“Yarraman Kindergarten is located in an area of high levels of disadvantage and high demand for funded four-year-old kindergarten places in affordable community kindergartens,” Mr Doubleday said.
He said kindergarten and playgroup played a critical role in supporting early childhood development, transition to school and family wellbeing.
